It IS Christmas ! ! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL

We have a BLIZZARD WARNING HERE IN MAINE

Yes we will get SNOW **WIND & cold= a BLIZZARD. Thankful I got my groceries yesterday.

Thursday we had a horrific accident of a log truck loaded with tree length logs. He drifted off the highway and onto our yard ***missed the trees and my lamp post just took down limbs. went across our driveway and into the yard next door and crashed into a big maple tree. I called 911 . My son ran out barefooted and was screaming to call 911 .As soon as rescue got here they said it was confirmed the driver was dead. 

We had yellow tape across our driveway and police and rescue in my yard. Last time I called 911 it was after finding my husband dead.So seeing those wonderful rescue people brought that awful March morning back to me.

Predicting 15-20 inches of snow! ! ! 

IT IS ALMOST CHRISTMAS. I made some Christmas stockings and have a fabric little tree up. No real Christmas Tree again this year. Too difficult to do, and I really miss my husband. We used to get a tree Dec. 15th and decorate it. 

Now I really don't feel like making the effort. 

MAINE HAS AN ICE STORM

There are 100,000 people without power. I am thankful I still have power and heat.

Now we have freezing rain. It is pretty but if the wind comes up more power could go out. 

Roads are ice covered and schools are closed. What a 24 hours we have had here in Maine.

It is COLDER today but we have bright sunshine. Oh, I also made  the table runner in the previous picture.

Today I am making Christmas stockings. Have a great weekend.

This is the quilt I made for my friend Beth. It is on display at her home in Michigan. The light background fabric had the 12 DAYS of Christmas.

It is a dreary day here very cloudy but so mild. I cannot believe mid 40's in December. I know we have some cold weather on the way.

I will be sewing this afternoon as soon as I have lunch.

Yesterday I had a meeting of the UMW that is the group of ladies at our church. We had a gift and cookie exchange . I will never forget the love and kindness they extended to me when my husband died so suddenly.

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving at my sisters home.

The holidays are a hard time for me . I really miss my husband as I think of all our holidays together.

I know this year I will be ok. 

Happy Turkey day

I will be with my sister and her family tomorrow. I have an apple pie and a cake,

Should be nice weather. The pie is done and I am waiting for the buzzer to go off so I can take the cake out of the oven.

We went from 68 to soooo COLD

We have had wicked cold weather. Now we have high wind warnings. Snow turning to rain as it finally warms up. It was 5 degrees when I got up.

The ground is bare.

It is COLD. We have light snow. I will go to Topsham & Brunswick tomorrow.

Today I will sew.

A great Sunday

Good Morning! Looks like the weather is clearing. It really rained a lot last night. So here comes the COLD. So far no bad wind that was predicted.

My breakfast is including strawberries and a banana. Right now I am enjoying a perfect cup of coffee.

I am looking forward to being in Brunswick-Topsham this coming Saturday. Seeing old friends

from my hometown.

I had a great BIRTHDAY

My sister and her friend Sally took me to the Waterville Opera House. The show was "The Full

Monty". So much fun. Don't know when I laughed so much.

I also got some slippers as a birthday gift from my sister and it is like walking on a cloud.

Today is my BIRTHDAY

I have had calls and cards e-mails and e-cards. Lots of good wishes from family and friends.

It is a rather dreary day but very mild. I really like the mild days we are having in November.

In years past we have had SNOW on my birthday.

Tomorrow I will be going out with my sister. So I may be old but I do feel really great.

Mild Cloudy Day

58 degrees when I got up ! ! My son is back home. Tomorrow is my birthday. 

Would like sunshine but will take the mild temps for now.

What a nice day here in Maine

We had temps in Maine today of 68 degrees and it will be in the 40's tonight.

I think it is sad for the gay couples in CA who got married and now to have Prop 8 . 

Hope it will all work out for them.

A beautiful day in Maine VOTE IN AMERICA DAY

We had sunshine and temps in the 60's. I had voted Oct.23rd so I could just relax.

This morning I had a meeting of the church women.

Now I will relax and listen to the vote results

We have a SUNNY Saturday. I will be off to get a haircut. 

Yesterday I went out to run some errands and I missed my sister who came to visit me.

By mid week we should have temps near 60. Right now it is sunny and crisp out there.

Must get to the PO before 12 noon when they close on Saturday. Have a great weekend.

I have a big bowl of candy ready . I did have a couple chocolate kisses.  Now I must get something to eat. My son has gone and is not here to cook for me. He is a very good cook. Makes me some wonderful meals.

Last night I watched Obama and I am so glad I went early and voted. Now back to work .

Sunshine today and very cool

We have gone from 64 degrees to 46 today. Quite a change. They did predict high winds and rain yesterday. We got some rain and it quickly moved on. We have a light wind but not too bad.

I will be off to get batting and backing for a quilt. I need to get a couple boxes to mail out the Sunbonnet Sue quilt and the Overall Sam quilt.

I am tired of listening to all the political ads since I have already voted. This is the first time I ever voted early.It was so easy at the local town office.

The local town office people are so nice and have been helpful as I sold my husbands truck and got the car registration changed to my name. Even got a fellow to take me to the landfill and show me what to do. So many things for a widow to learn. The help was appreciated.

We have RAIN WIND and warm temps today 60 degrees

A Windy and Rain filled Sunday. I hate rain on Sundays. Got my Sunday paper and we are now watching the Patriots.

I have all the quilting done on Sunbonnet Sue.

Now I must get them shipped to LA.

Friday Oct. 24th 2008

Yesterday I voted early. A robo call by the former NY mayor and two pamphlets from the Maine Republican group...sent me to the local town office. I voted for OBAMA.

This year I voted with a passion. I was really upset at the awful mailings and phone calls.

I am now on facebook. My friend Beth encouraged me.

Friday Oct. 17th Sunny and cool

I have been enjoying the colorful trees in my front yard. Soon it will be bare. 

I have nearly finished the quilting on the Sunbonnet Sue. Will send the two quilts off to Louisiana. My friend Carolyn did not get up North this year. I tried to send her an e-mail and put .net  instead of .com So now I am all set and we have talked on the phone and e-mailed each other.

My son is making pizza tonight. Has a great recipe from Mary Webber's Frugal Family Kitchen Book. I have followed her on local TV when I lived in Southern Maine. Now I follow her blog.

Hope to meet her when I get down to Yarmouth.  Have a wonderful weekend. We have apples to pick and pumpkins. ENJOY !

A cloudy Thursday

We actually got up to 72 degrees yesterday and in the 40's at night. This weekend is suppose to be sunny and very nice. Great for all the leaf peepers.

I heard from my friend Carolyn. The Overall Sam and Sunbonnet Sue quilts are for her. So nice to talk to her again.

My sister invited us to her home for Thanksgiving. Holidays are still hard for me without my "Goldie". It has been a long year and a half without him. Life goes on and I am mostly happy and busy!  With good friends and family that make my life easier.

Good Morning from Maine

We have a beautiful day here. I have a meeting today of Methodist Women. Then the rest of the week will have temps upper 60's and sunshine. I plan to get apples and make an apple pie.

I also plan to get out and enjoy the last fall beautiful days in my screen house.

A Sunny Monday

This is a picture my son Mike took. He is much better at picture taking than I am. The trees here in this part of Maine are just beautiful.

I have both my sons with me and am enjoying the fun of having them here...lots of laughing and eating.

Many years ago on Friday Oct 4th 1963 my Dad died in Portland. I always remember driving to Portland every day and enjoying the colorful leaves and with a sad heart knew my Dad was not going to make it.

Today My son is coming to visit. The sun is out and it should be a nice weekend.

HERE COMES THE SUN

We had rain over the weekend. The hurricane missed us. So what we got was just rain. 

Yesterday I had a nice Sunday afternoon. My sister came to visit. that was really nice.

Today we will have temps near 70 and some sun. 

Our neighborhood is getting very colorful. The trees are showing their brilliant color. I have maples out front and one in the backyard. Will have to post some pictures  of the color.

A Weekend of RAIN

My plan was to go down to Brunswick today and attend the events "Saying Goodbye To Brunswick High School" The school I attended is being torn down. The weather is mild but lots of rain.

So I will stay home and  sew and maybe do some baking. Have a great weekend.

A sunny thursday

My niece Lori and her brother will be over to visit today.

I read with sadness that Grand City in Brunswick will close at the end of the year. Also Bookland is closing this month. I loved going to both places when I lived down there. With Brunswick Naval Air Base closing I am sure there will be more changes.

It was COLD last night

When I looked out to my backyard the grass was white with FROST.

My potted plants are safe in my garage.  I will put them outside soon as the sun is 

bright and it is going to be a really nice day.

We have SUNSHINE and warmth

We do have some wind but a really sunny and warm day. Our niece will fly in from Arizona Wed.

Or nephew and his partner will be flying in this weekend. It will be nice to all get together again.

When you get to my age family and friends are so important.

I had my coffee and read the Bangor Daily News. The small town of Milo here in Maine had a horrible fire that wiped out a portion of Main Street. So very sad.

Our temp right now is 79 degrees. I am going out for a walk. 

It looks like a Sunday that is cloudy with RAIN on the way

I hate a rainy Sunday. It makes me sad.

Will be off to get the Sunday paper.

Thursday Morning

September 11th is my sons birthday. In 1954 I was in Sampson Air Base hospital in New York having just delivered my first born. The state of Maine was experiencing a hurricane.

My husband called the grandparents in Maine and they then lost power for over a week.

We were living in Geneva , NY.

IT HAS BEEN A GREAT FIRST WEEK OF SEPTEMBER

I am trying to make up my mind about going down to Brunswick tomorrow. I would like to see

the last Blue Angles flying show. That because the Brunswick Naval Air Base is closing.

Yesterday it was 88 and sunny. It has been sunny all week.

Now we might get some rain this weekend. Have a wonderful weekend.

Labor Day weekend

Sunshine! A really lovely day. 

I got a package in the mail from my friend Nan with a double wedding ring quilt top.

I will put it together and quilt it for her.

I have a few things to do then it is outside to enjoy this beautiful day.

A SUNNY MORNING

The weather has been perfect. Yesterday I was out in my screen house. The sky was blue and not a cloud to be seen. Today it should be the same with a temp of 82.

Auntie Alice says HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Happy Birthday Girls. The "Goldsmith Girls" Tracy and Wendy both have today the 26 as their birthdays . Now  grown ladies and mothers they are terrific.

I had my car repaired by Luddens Auto repair. Now my car is back and I feel safer to have the work done on it.Must get outside and take my walk.

A beautiful Saturday. Lots of sunshine. I have my chores all done and will have a lunch  and then get outside.

I am home alone this weekend. So I can relax and have no schedule.

Will be out in my screen house with my cell phone. Reading a book. Enjoy the weekend & those

Today is the birthday of my first grandchild. A GIRL ! ! Happy birthday Rebekah .

Now a grown lady. Sorry we have not been in touch lately.

My son is leaving for a weekend in Auburn. Will be attending some function in Portland.

As soon as my chores are done I will be outside enjoying this beautiful day. Mike is off to cut grass for a neighbor.

I am going to read in my screen house. The goldenrod is blooming and the leaves are starting to turn color. The young ones are looking forward to starting school September 2nd. 

I am so glad to see the low 80's for the American Folk Festival this weekend in Bangor.

Life gets difficult

Everything was going well. Saturday we went to the landfill and Sunday we went grocery shopping. Then Monday called about the repair work I need on my car. Called the auto company in Pittsfield where we bought the car.

I could make an appointment but it was getting it there and me getting back to get it. I have AAA but it is NOT a taxi service.

So called a repair place in Newport. They will get my car and return it. This is to happen Monday.

So I will miss a wedding Saturday in Harpswell. Don't dare go that far with worn bushings.

Made me realize how much I miss my Goldie.

It is a nice sunny Saturday

My son Alan went home yesterday and I miss him. My other son Mike is out mowing the grass before we may get some showers here.

Today is the birthday of my brother Bobby. It is also the 21st birthday of my special niece Fran.

So a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to both. Tomorrow my other brother Rodney has a birthday so HAPPY BIRTHDAY to him as well.

August is really a big birthday month for my family and friends. Have a great weekend.

I still have both my sons here with me.

Back Home again

I am back after spending time with my sister at camp. The weather was not the greatest but I really enjoyed myself. Nice to get away to rest and relax.

I was pleased to see my sisters friends. I had not seen her friend Sally since their college days. I also met another friend of hers named Sheila. I already had met Brenda. So we had a ladies night.

Today I am waiting for my son to arrive from southern Maine. Then I will have both boys with me and that will be nice.

I took NO pictures at the lake because I had dead batteries in my camera. How dumb! !

It is Sunday and a cloudy day. No rain yet. It did rain overnight. The neighborhood is so green and very nice. My son mowed our grass yesterday before it does rain again.

Wednesday I will go on vacation for a little while with my sister. 

Then my son will be up from Scarborough to visit us. So  I will have both of my boys here.

The 23rd I will be in Harpswell to attend a wedding.

If I get some good pictures I will put them up on my blog.

I need to finish quilting the Sunbonnet Sue.

It is Wednesday so soon. Time is flying by. Here in Maine today is the start of the 61st Lobster Festival in Rockland. People will eat a lot of lobster.

I am so glad the sun is bright and it should be a great day for the festival.

I have to go shopping today and finish a quilt. I am enjoying my screen house in the backyard.

Saturday morning

Yesterday I went to Brunswick and met my friend Ruth( she was my boss). We then went to the service for the lady we worked with years ago. Another lady who worked with us was also there.

So there were the three of us from the bank.

I also saw my former neighbor in Topsham. Nice to see Margaret again. We both became widows in 2007. 

After the service I went and had a nice visit with my brothers family.

We sat on the porch and really enjoyed Colby being the music man. In this picture is Colby with his Great grandmother Roberta. It was a nice afternoon.

GOOD MORNING We have rain

Yesterday I got my car registered. Changed the name to mine. Now I think my husbands name is off all the paperwork we have in our lives. It  has been  14 months since he died. 

Tomorrow I will be in Brunswick may try to see my brothers while I am down there.

We may be getting OLD but we are a busy group of old folks.

Today I will quilt. I have two quilts for my friend Carolyn. One is a SUNBONNET SUE and the other is an OVERALL SAM. I will post a photo when they are all quilted.

Good afternoon

We have had some clouds but he sun is bright right now, It is a lovely day. My flowers are looking better now that we got a little rain.

I plan to meet my friend Ruth and we will go to the memorial service together Friday morning.

We worked for many years with the lady who died.

I always  like to get back to the area where I lived & worked and made my home for so many years.I still have family and friends down there in the southern part of Maine.

After a year as a widow I am going to stay here in the little town my husband loved.

A little rain & now the sun is shinning! !

The rain was much needed it was getting way too dry. I have much to do here at home before I get away this weekend.

Friday I will be in Brunswick to attend a memorial service for an old friend. Then MAINE QUILTS 2008 at the Augusta Civic center.

It warms my heart to see old friends but is also sad to be losing so many important people in my life. I tried to get a picture of the humming bird but no success it flew away too fast.

At church today Corinna will be saying goodbye to our pastor Sharon. She will be leaving for NH.

We are going to miss her.

We have SUNSHINE

It is a beautiful day here in Maine. I have to remember to water my plants as we have not had enough rain. Just glorious Sunshine.

WE HAVE A BEAUTIFUL WEDNESDAY

Yesterday I went to the Dr. I had blood work done the week before. All my numbers were perfect.

I do take meds but have been careful about what I eat. Lots of fruit and veggies..Plus beans & rice.

NO SODA -CHIPS or ICE CREAM really has worked. This summer I will have some ice cream and strawberry shortcake. Got to enjoy summertime.

So I only go back to see the Dr. late October. No blood work before that visit.

My brother sent me this picture of his adorable grandkids. Bailey and Lauren yesterday was the 4th birthday of Lauren.

Bailey the older of the two will have her birthday in September.

Today I go to the Dr. and run a few errands. Should be a sunny and warm day Not too humid.

HI it is MONDAY

We have a cloudy day but a nice sunny weekend. Saturday I went to the birthday party for my friend Mim. She is beloved in Corinna. Celebrating her 80th birthday.

Today is the birthday of Lauren J. I think 4 years old. I have to check with her Aunt Julie.

The month of August I have vacation and a wedding plus lots of family birthdays. So a summer of joy.

A BEAUTIFUL SATURDAY

Today should be fun. I need to go to the bank -PO and then on to a party for a dear lady.

Mim King is one of the first ladies who was so kind to me when I first moved to Corinna.

The celebration is at the church annex. Mim is celebrating her 80th birthday.

There was a really nice photo of her in The Rolling Thunder express. our local free paper.

Must have breakfast and get a move on. 

The weather today should be PERFECT! ! ! 

Good morning

It is 70 degrees at 6:30 this AM. Hope it is not as hot and humid. Three days of BAD AIR are too much.  We can pick strawberries near our home. It has been too hot to get out in the field to pick.

With the warm and humid weather everything is green and Mike has been mowing grass at lest once a week.

So with a change in the weather we can pick strawberries and peas.

Today should be sunny 83-85 degrees and less humid. Three days of 90 and high humidity were not good to get a lot of work done.

Another very bad air day

We will again have temps topping off at 90. So the AC is on again today. Later we should have bad thunder storms as this hot air and cooler temps come in.

I am enjoying COFFEE TOAST and some FRUIT

I am just back from going to the DR. office and getting my blood drawn. I had to fast so this coffee and toast are PERFECT.

I met Jenna my neighbor outback. She drew my blood. Her aunt Kim used to be our neighbor outback. Was nice to meet her I remember her 11 years ago as a little girl.

We have a BAD AIR ALERT here in Maine today. I plan to stay inside and turn on the AC.

Monday morning

Hello everyone we are in for a very HOT and HUMID day here in Maine. Temps could top 90.

I survived the weekend and am off to a great new week.

I must fast later today so that I can have blood work done tomorrow morning. Nothing but water after 6PM.  Then I see my Dr. next week.

I am going to the PO and do some quilting.  Looks like I will need to put the AC on today.

Sunny Sunday Morning

Today July 6th is sad for me this year. In 1951 I married the LOVE OF MY LIFE. 

Last year I was still in shock because he died so very suddenly. This year I just miss him.

Sunny Saturday Here in Maine

Good morning everyone. We have a perfect holiday weekend. Simply wonderful for all the vacationers. Sunny ,warm and less humid.

Tonight the 5th we have fireworks in Newport. Last night there were fireworks in Dexter.

 Since we are between the two towns we can enjoy each one.

Today is grocery shopping day. Must get a list made and be on our way.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend because rain is due early this coming week.

GOOD MORNING

Yesterday I went down and visited with my sister Sue. It was a really nice visit. She took me to the cemetery so I could visit my "Goldie". We were quite a sight. Looking for his grave site. We walked and looked. We were in the right section but the wrong row. It just looked different because so many veterans are dying each day. 

Must have my breakfast and get to town and do some shopping before the holiday. There will be parades and fireworks etc.  I used to love the 4th but not so much now.

We got our converter boxes for our antenna TV.

Cloudy Monday Morning

I am really looking forward to some sunshine on Wed. These dreary days make me sad.

57 years ago I was getting ready to be married. Sunday July 6th would have been our 57th anniversary. Some days I miss my "Goldie" so much. I am sure I will get through this next week and be my old happy self again.

Corinna Old Home Days

It is cloudy but NO rain so the parade is on also a quilt show and an art show. There will be a

spaghetti supper at the Corinna Methodist Church. There will also be things going on all over town. So locals get out and enjoy.

Must go to the Post Office before they close at noon. Have a nice weekend.

A SUNNY FRIDAY MORNING

My son is out mowing the grass again. With the sun and then rain the grass is fast growing.

Our town now has a wonderful new gazebo it has just been finished. I will get a picture to put up on my blog.

We have Corinna Old Home Days this weekend. The town is looking festive with all the flags and decorations. 

A Partly Sunny Day

Hi  just a few words before I am off to the PO.

I have been e-mailing my sister. I have had breakfast and done some chores.

Today I will QUILT and then spend some time outside. Some places in Maine today have a watch for bad air. That does not happen here very often .

It is time to get some local strawberries. They are a treat to be had each year.A short distance from my home there is a farm with a strawberry pick your own field. Very nice. Or you can buy them at their farm stand. Either way it helps a local farmer. That is a good thing:)

Today should be beautiful. My son got the weed trimmer going so he could cut all the shaggy grass around the trees etc.  It looks much neater.

I am having whole wheat toast-coffee and fruit.

Monday is a little bit cloudy maybe a little rain coming. I met my friend Beth and it was nice to see her again. She brought me a really nice quilters mug. Now when I have coffee in that cup I will think of Beth. Her daughter is a beautiful young lady and was an infant when I last saw her.

I am off to the post office and have a meat loaf in the oven. It smells good already. Then green beans and baked potato sounds good for dinner. I am eating grapes for dessert.

Sunday Afternoon

Good afternoon . We had sun now clouds maybe showers coming our way.

I love to watch the finches at the feeder. They are so bright and pretty.

Hope to see my friend Beth today or tomorrow. Then later another old friend from my home town. Have a great day.

Good morning we have SUNSHINE!!

I should go grocery shopping today. Then enjoy the good weather.

At my age one should enjoy all the things they love.

My project for the church is all done and I will be back to quilting! !

First day of SUMMER

No rain today but also no bright sunshine.....maybe later.

My former neighbor and friend Sue stopped in to see me today and that was so nice.

When I moved here 11 years ago our street had no number. It amazed me not to have a street number.

I remember Sue stopping at my house to call AAA. At that time we just said the house next to the Health Center. We are now numbered for E-911. Anyway it was great to see her. I am also looking forward to seeing Beth back here in Maine for a few days. Must get a move on I am still in my old terry cloth  bathrobe.

I finally  got a haircut and now have less hair than my son. 

Oh, I think the sun is starting to peek out. Have a great weekend.

RAIN & FOG again this AM

It is beginning to get to be too much. I want some more sunshine.

Oh well I will be off to the bank and to get more yarn to complete my project.

HOW ABOUT THOSE CELTICS ! !

What a really BIG win. They were awesome. The Sox also won. New England is HAPPY.

We still have rain but the sun was with us foe a little while yesterday.

Must read the paper and finnish my breakfast.

I woke up to rain and fog

Oh well we had days of sun and the people who have gardens need some rain.

My favorite RED SOX were really off the mark last night.

Tonight we have the Celtics and I sure hope there is a better result.

Instead of quilting I am doing some knitting for a church project.

Our Mission project is making things for Hospital Chaplaincy.

I am knitting a shawl. Must have my coffee and breakfast,

They will be coming back to BOSTON

Our Patriots will be back and I hope win it all.

We had a gentle rain yesterday and it is cloudy today.

My son is back  and I enjoy having him around.

Hope our sunshine is back next week. This week we have to deal with rain and showers.

A Sunny Saturday Morning

We have sunshine and a really nice day.

I will be off to the PO as they shut down at noontime on Saturday.

Then a few errands and home again. Have a nice weekend.

After our week of warmth and sun it is suppose to rain. The gardeners are

looking forward to that rain. Also the strawberry growers. We will be able to pick

your own in a week or so. That should be fun.

How about those CELTICS ! !

I loved watching such an interesting game. So NEW ENGLAND is happy today.

We have sunshine and a really beautiful day. Better enjoy it because Rain and showers are coming.

A rare perfect June day in Maine

I went in town and it has been such a beautiful day. Sunshine and low humidity. After several days with 90's and high humidity today was a treat. Blue sky and some fluffy white clouds.

The gas price today in Corinna is 4.09. I filled up my tank at 3.99 the other day.

The Lupine plants are in full bloom all along the highway and so pretty.

We had wicked Thunderstorms

BOTH my favorite teams lost last night. Then at midnight the thunder and lightening. I am too old not to get a good nights sleep.

Today should be more comfortable with less humidity. After breakfast I may go back to bed for an hour or so. I will see how I feel after I have my coffee and toast.

My favorite teams are NOT doing well tonight

After about 15 or 20 minutes of a heavy thunderstorm I finally listened to the Red Sox lose their game.

Now my Celtics are down 6 points. I will hope for the best. 

It has been too hot to quilt without my AC on.

 Tomorrow I have errands to run and it should be a less humid day.

I am off to my bedroom to watch the rest of the game Goodnight

It is a Beautiful Day

We may hit the 80's today but not as humid.

Have to go and VOTE today in the Maine primary.

Not much going on ......I will be watching the Celtics play tonight. 

As well as listening to the Red Sox. A day to enjoy the sunshine and Summer

Time. I am anxious for the local strawberries. Love to all.

Monday morning

I managed to stay cool yesterday. Today seems more humid. The sun is trying to shine.

I think today I will go and get a haircut. 

We had thunderstorms above us and all we got was a little rain last night.

Early this morning there was a lot of FOG. Enjoy your day.

Good Sunday Morning

We are suppose to have a very hot day here in Maine. 90's + and very humid. I opened all the windows I could and it is nice and cool inside. 

For one wicked hot day I won't complain. Not after 100+ inches of SNOW this past winter.

I love summer.

The coffee is on and in a little while I will get the Sunday paper. Enjoy the day.

Saturday Morning

It is cloudy but should be very Hot this weekend. I was NOT happy with the Red Sox last night. 

I am having coffee and watching the birds. The finches are so bright and fun to watch. 

Mike you had a package yesterday.

 Have a Happy weekend. I did a lot of quilting yesterday because the sun never came out.

New England is HAPPY the Red Sox won last night and our Celtics had a win over the Lakers.

The coffee is on and all is well. Today I will be going to the PO and then relax and quilt until the sun comes out.

We might see the sun today

Yesterday was mostly clouds and rain. I did get the picture mailed off to Jackie, It is of about eight of us old John A. Cone school gals. we were in school in the 40's. One gal said she missed a meeting and had no picture. So I scanned the picture and mailed it to her yesterday.

Hope it is a nice surprise for her today when she checks her mail.

Today I will be off to the landfill. 

Tonight  the Celtics play the Lakers in BOSTON. The RED SOX will play early so we can all enjoy  both games. 

So today I plan to be happy.

We have RAIN this morning

Oh well, grocery shopping and post office to mail out a picture . Then a haircut. A good day to do errands.

Then when it hits the 80's this weekend with sunshine I will be free to get outside and enjoy.

Good thing my son cut the grass yesterday ....then the rain came. Still need to trim around the trees etc.

It does look a little better. Mike baked some brownies last evening and I have controlled my self with one little piece.  I am so proud of my restraint.

Tuesday June 3rd, 2008

This morning I met with ladies from the church. We went to the home of one of our members.

 It was very nice.

Now my son is mowing the grass before we get more rain showers. It looks pretty shaggy out there in our yard.

Tomorrow I go shopping for food. I only go every two weeks. Then I desperately need a haircut.

Now I am going to do some quilting after I take a little walk. Must get outside and enjoy some fresh air. We still have lilacs. They smell so nice.

I welcome the month of JUNE

I look forward in June to our wonderful strawberries. 

We got our rain yesterday and it was much needed.

Today is clear and we can get in the garden. In Maine we say "What is so rare as a day in June"

Flowers are blooming and the veggies are growing. It is a wonderful time.

I may even break down and get myself an ICE CREAM today.

Friday May 30th 2008

It is a really beautiful day. We have sunshine ! It is very dry and some rain is predicted for tomorrow. We really do need it.

Tomorrow is my sisters birthday. She has helped me so much since my husband died. Don't know what I would have done without her at my side. The 911 operator called her and she was here as soon as possible. With COFFEE in her hands. She stayed with me until my boys arrived and my nephew Dana.

She and my older son were both born the same year three months apart.

Must get busy have much to do today.

It is Wednesday Morning

I will be out the door very soon. I had an e-mail from my niece and will be seeing her in Sept. She will fly in from Arizona with her aunt.

Must go and do my errands. I am a busy old lady. 

Tuesday Morning May 27th 2008

Our neighborhood is a bloom with lilac bushes. They are in full bloom and so pretty. It smells so nice.

I have much to do today. Will see how much I accomplish!

The sun is bright but it is forecast to be cloudy with some showers later today. I hope to get my screen house set up today and need to go and get my inspection sticker. This is my last week.

Everyday something has come up.......now I must get to it.

It is MONDAY Morning May 26,2008

I am running late with my post today.

My son is cutting the grass and later I will get outside.

We had sunshine early but now it is getting cloudy. Nice all the parades were able to proceed with good weather today.

I had some nice pictures from an old friend in NC. Her grandkids are  so very adorable.

I look forward to seeing my friend Beth in a few weeks as well as Carolyn up from Louisiana.

SUNDAY MORNING MAY 25,2008

Good morning. It is a nice sunny day here in MAINE. I have had breakfast and have been watching the finches at the feeder while I sip my coffee.

I have to go down to Topsham and put flowers at the cemetery. I will also go to the veterans 

cemetery in Augusta where my husband was laid to rest.

I am grateful for the wonderful church friends I have here in Corinna. Last year when my husband died so very suddenly the ladies were here with love and lots of food. With such wonderful neighbors and friends I have decided to stay in Corinna. I have posted a picture of my church where I am secretary of Corinna United Methodist Women.

Yesterday we had sunshine and showers.

My son Mike who is my "KEEPER" didn't want me driving  160 miles in the changing weather.

So I will go tomorrow when we do have sunshine. Must have breakfast. 

My son has a wedding today............ enjoy the weekend.

HAVE A NICE HOLIDAY WEEKEND

The sun is bright. I made a perfect cup of coffee this morning. Now I will read the morning paper

and enjoy my coffee and toast and fruit.

Then off to the PO for the mail. After that I will be on my way to Brunswick and Topsham to visit the cemeteries and see some old friends.

Only two of us now go and place flowers on the grandparents lot. The young ones only know them by photos. I have wonderful memories of going to the grandparents and there were aunts, uncles and cousins. The aunts and uncles are just memories now.

SAD NEWS

It is with a heavy heart I have received the news that one of our extended family members has passed away.

With love and fondness we will remember Elloyd Millette. He was in a nursing home in Georgia

suffering from complications of diabetes.

It is a cloudy morning !

Good morning friends. I will have much to do today. This is a picture of my backyard apple tree.

 My backyard looks out on a large pasture. I know it is spring when they put the cows out.

I will also see much traffic as folks travel north to Moosehead Lake.

It is Wednesday Morning

Yesterday I went to Newport with Mike and got groceries before the holiday weekend.

Friday I will be in Brunswick and Topsham . 

Today I want to get flowers some to plant here at my house and some for the cemeteries.

My husband is buried in Augusta at the Veterans Cemetery. I will go there Sunday. 

We should have a very nice weekend with perfect weather.My son has a wedding Saturday.

To all have a great weekend and do drive safe if you go out on the highway.

Must enjoy my coffee and get busy today. 

With Memorial Day I am really missing my husband so much. My life will never be the same.

Good morning We have SUNSHINE

Yesterday we had sunshine-heavy rain-HAIL- and sun again. A really strange day.

An old friend from my days in Topsham called me and that warmed my heart. She said it had started raining in South Paris. I laughed and said "I have bright sunshine".

I went out and got in my car and was off to the post office. Just made it home and the downpour 

was hitting me with rain and hail.

If you don't like the weather just wait a minute. So true yesterday.

My Red Sox are winning and the Celtics are going strong. I have the Sox on the radio and the Celtics on TV.

Good Sunday Morning

We got a little rain overnight and now the sun is bright and it is a wonderful day.

I have coffee perking on the stove.

Will later go and get the Sunday paper. Or Mike will go and get it for me.

For months Sundays were the time I felt so sad. Now I get up make coffee and have a good breakfast....that seems to start the day off right. Mike made three loaves of wheat and rye bread 

and that makes wonderful toast.

I knew it

The sunshine is gone and it is a cloudy day. A good time to do some chores.

I thought when my husband died I could not survive . A year later and I am really doing quite well.

Thanks to great friends and a wonderful family. 

I have two sons and one of them MIKE lives with me and is a great help. My other son lives in southern Maine.

I have four grandkids. Two of them grown adults. They are Rebekah- Christopher -Lauren and Caleb.I love them all dearly.

Tuesday I had lunch with ladies that I went to grade school with in the 40's.We have all been through the ups and downs in life and are always there for each other.

I am waiting today for my stimulus check.

I am looking forward to seeing an old classmate Class of 49 next week. She lives in Georgia.

Then in June I hope to see my friend Beth.

I have to get my car inspected and go to the landfill tomorrow. All the things my beloved husband did  and now I have to learn so many new things. 

It is sunny and nice today and we expect some rain over the weekend. So it is time to get some of my veggies planted. Should be a very nice day.
